Hi Friends,
where can I find affordable dental cleaning? I used to go to a dentist at Healthcare City who charged 400 for dental cleaning. I called to book an appointment this morning and was told that they've hiked their prices and the same service costs 650 now. Recommendations, please!

Hi Friends,
Hi Moms- Would be forever grateful for some quick input-- we're moving to Dubai in January and need to find a school for my 4 year old and 2 year old. We've learned that Gems Wellington Al Khail and Kings Nad al Sheba have space in FS1 and FS2 for both Jan and the Fall. Any advice/feedback on either of those schools? We don't know where we're living yet, and don't really have a preference as to UK vs IB vs US. For my 2 year old we're on the wait list at Seashells but not sure how/if the lists move? Also, anyone have experience with corporate debentures? My husband is working for a large international bank but strangely enough they don't have debentures in Dubai, which I'm guessing would help at some of the more 'in demand' schools (JESS, Kings, Dubai Am Academy, etc) . His company claims debentures are expensive and don't always work, and do not always guarantee a secured seat (due to sibling priority and high demand). Do people find this true? We may be able to convince them to secure since our situation for January is so dire but not sure it's worth it? THANK YOU THANK YOU LADIES!!

Hi Friends,
I have been going to Dr. Skorski and I am still very early in my pregnancy. I like her very much. If anyone has had her as their OBNY then please share your experiences. Also, her deliveries are in Zahra Hospital on Sheikh Zayad Road. I don't know anyone who has had their baby there. Since it's a new hospital I am nervous about it. Do they have a good neonatal center? Does anyone know? Thank you so much.

Hi Friends,
It sounds cliche, but I am sure everyone has had an experience here in Dubai with teachers informing parents that their child is showing 'abnormal' behavior. My son is turning 4 and was 3 years old at the time he attended FS1 at Safa community school last September. He is a happy, sociable child who was a little delayed with his speech and loved attending big school for the first time. During the second week at Safa, I started getting calls from the management staff informing me that my son was showing abnormal behavior, not following the curriculum, and that a shadow teacher was the only option if I wanted to keep him at the school. To elaborate, he didn't want to always go toilet when told, he did not want to change activities as he loved playing with the toy cars, and he liked to take off his shows at time. Oh and not forgetting that he liked to touch the carpet which the staff implied he had some kind of censorial issues. Sounds like normal behavior for a 3 year old if you ask me, and I am not exaggerating at all. It even got to a point where my son had to stay home for 3 days as a punishment or 'time to think' as he decided to knock a chair over when another boy took the toy car he was playing with. Not forgetting when he spent 2 hours in the principles office twice that week so he can further 'think' about his behavior. I of course took him to an occupational therapist as I became very paranoid as it seemed the story of my life became meeting the FS management team to discuss my abnormal child. The outcome was that he simply needed some speech support but socially and mentally he was fine and fit for school. The team at Safa of course disagreed and I received a call informing me that my son cannot come back to school. My point in sharing this is to inform every mum that sometimes, the pressures of Dubai and the schooling systems here leads to us preventing our children from simply being that: A Child. A teacher's/school's role (along with roles of us as parents) is to nurture and develop our children and accept that every child is unique, and some may need further support compared to others. Our kids need to tick certain boxes before being 'accepted' or else, let's just get rid of them, as there are many kids on the waiting list wanting a place at school. I dont hold a grudge, but every time I look back at what I was told by the Principle, the FS1 teacher and even the learning support teacher, I remember again that Safa Commmunity School is not what it makes out to be. If you have a perfect child - great then he/she will be accepted: they fit in. However, any signs of teachers having to work a little harder to support or develop your child, then sorry they will need to go else where. "We do not not have space for 3 year old who will not follow the curriculum."

Hi Friends,
Hi everyone, I really need you help and advise to where I can seek help , I have a 6 years old son who have always been a hard to handle kid , and it is just getting worse every year , so he’s basically just not listening at all , stubborn, arguing, even though I am a very disciplinary parent but it just doesn’t work, now here’s the biggest problem, he’s making troubles at school refusing to do absolutely any work and he talks back to his teacher, he had been suspended from school few times, had a shadow teacher for sometimes but didn’t work, he had been seen by few psychologists and been put on medications but didn’t work, he is just very hard kid , don’t get me wrong I love my son louds, but he just drives me crazy, I am on anti depression medicine now because of that , he doesn’t like sports or arts or crafts... etc , we tried to put him in different activities but just after few weeks coaches would complain and say they can’t accept him anymore because he’s not listening and being disruptive to other kids, he spends his most school time grounded for something he’s done by not going to play yard or being sent coordinator , kids in classroom call him noughty , I have tried rewarding, punishment nothing works, do you know where I can get help please , we’ re welling to stretch our expenses and even housing down sizing and not going on holidays to see family just to afford any help we can get, but we don’t know where , let me tell you last thing about him he’s very smart , he could read at the age of 4 years old , we’ve been told he’s a bright kids but his behavior is just preventing him from doing anything. Please if anyone knows any hospital or behavioral therapist who can help, please tell me .
